Why Dancing Is Great Exercise for Seniors!

No matter how much we try to stay young the time comes when the aging process finally is in charge and with that a person's body can start to deteriorate which of course can lead to bad health. Because of the aging process, a lot of older people are not able to get involved with any high impact exercises like running, jogging or aerobics, but they still need some sort of exercise.

Once low impact exercise that is beneficial to seniors is dance. If seniors do some sort of dancing or dance routine it is going to improve their overall fitness because it is very good exercise for the heart. Even the lightest of dancing is going to give the heart a nice workout.

So those seniors that begin to cut down on their exercising because of the aches and the pains that come with getting older, don't have to give it up altogether. They need to first understand that some sort of exercise is going to loved by their hearts so why not consider taking up some sort of light dancing to help raise the heart rate some which in turn gives the heart the workout that it needs.

Dancing is another great way to help the muscles. When the body gets older the muscles begin to get weaker and the body will often times have a higher fat ratio. So by dancing the senior can get those muscles working which will help cut down the fat ratio and also will help take care of some of the effects of the aging process.

Another benefit that comes from dancing is that it helps seniors with their social life. As we all get older and grow up, people move away, lose touch with others and they die and this can sometimes lead the senior into feeling extremely isolated and lonely. So if they were to join some sort of dance class they will be in the company of other people and by doing this their spirits will be lifted as well.

Dancing is also a wonderful way for seniors to be able to improve their balance and the control they have over their body. When this happens the chances of them falling as often is cut down and then there are less chances of broken bones.

As a person ages another thing that happens to our bodies is that we begin to lose bone mass and this happens in both men and women as they age. This bone mass loss can and will lead to a lot more broken bones if someone should fall. So by doing some sort of dancing, this exercise will actually help to increase the body's bone mass.

Dancing is also going to help seniors with their flexibility. When you take dancing classes there generally are going to be stretching warmups and this will increase a senior's flexibility and when they are more flexible a lot of the muscle aches they experience is going to be lowered.
